In December, 2021 I joined Shoot the Light for 5 days of Bald Eagle photography along the Skagit river in Washington State. A guide would take us up the river in his boat and then provide some bait to attract the eagles.
The Skagit is a salmon spawning river and at the end of the spawn the salmon die. The eagles figured this out and in late November through January they gather along the shore to indulge in easy meals.
There is a lot of action with eagles in flight, eagles disputing territory and fighting for food. All in all a cool experience.
