Near Sarasota, the Myakka River State Park represents an "old Florida" nature experience. A river, two lakes and thousands of acres of Florida forest comprise one of the largest parks in the state.
There are miles of hiking trails, campgrounds and a quaint airboat ride across the larger lake.
We were there at mid day so there wasn't a lot of wildlife photo ops.
