Images from a May, 2013 trip to Africa. I went on photo safaris in Tanzania for a week and Kenya for another week. More on the details in each gallery.
In general, this time of year is when the rainy season has ended. The grass is long and the migration has yet to appear. So, the landscape is characterized by large, open fields with golden grass waving in the breeze.
There are many residents in the area. They are more difficult to encounter as many are hidden by the tall grass.
Since this was my first time in these conditions, I was initially a little disappointed as we drove around for long periods of time before encountering a photo opportunity.
But, as with much photography, patience paid off and, in the end, I was very happy with the quality of the photo opportunities.
